Sora Aoi in Thai Movie Hormones
By Jr Kavman

Sora Aoi, one of Japanese top model, was surprisingly found involving in GTH movie Hormones, which is directed by Dorm director Songyos Sukmakanan.

GTH studio, who is the film maker company, kept the news secretly without revealing any Sora's movie photos or information. Even in the 15 Feb 2008 press conference, no official news on Aoi role was announced. Fans were very curious when they saw that Sora was involved in Hormones, through the film preview and trailers.

Pidterm yai huajai wawoon (English title Hormones) is divided into four shots, each of which portrays the loves of teenagers, starring by recent Thai pop actors and actresses and of course, our famous Japanese star idol, Aoi.

Aoi plays in a part as a traveller and accidentally bumped into a boy, Hern who is going to celebrate his 3 years anniversary with his girl friend. Hern is a fan of Aoi. Some incidents happened in the middle which in the end both Hern and Sora went to the full moon party together.

Hormones set to become the first major hit in Thailand this year after raking in nearly 40 million baht ($1.2 million) in its first weekend of release.

It is considered a strong opening as Hormones have made $270,000 on the opening day, and the revenue has been stable over the next 3 days. Movies which opening more than $180,000 is considered strong opening in Thailand .

One of the major reason Hormones can make a great impact is because the film itself is a teen comedy with lots of laughters. Another reason is because of the unexpected appearance of Sora Aoi in the film gave a silent but big promotion to the film. Thousands fans have immediately and rapidly spreaded the news since last Saturday morning, especially in websites and blogs. Within a week, Thaicinema.org has been linked with around 50 local websites and was hit by over 20,000 visitors

JR-Kavman is a Japanese Idol and model's hot fan and researcher. He is very experienced in this industry and can often recommend some quality sites to the people around.

Cosplay Idols

Cosplay Idols
By Jo J. Thomas

As an aspiring cosplayer, you should have at least one cosplay idol. Why? Because nearly everyone who has ever been successful at anything was first inspired by someone else. Someone who motivated them to be just as good or even better someday. Hey, dream big anything is possible. Who knows, eventually you could become so good at cosplay that you can make a living from it. Imagine spending the rest of your days attending conventions around the world and being paid for it! Yeah, you heard me. Such a thing exists . . . and no it's "not somewhere over the rainbow."

Random fun fact:

In Japan, they have what are known as professional cosplayers, or cosplay models. Yes, here people are paid to dress in costume and get their picture taken. Sounds like a sweet job, ne? But they take their work very seriously, and they must because professional cosplayers demand $150 an hour on average, and even more every 30 minutes after that. Also, the fact that professional cosplaying does not require a degree in school or any special training makes it a highly competitive field.

We all know the importance of screen shots for cosplay references. They help you get it "right" and make your cosplay "accurate." But let's face it, with all the L cosplayers nowadays and the omnipresent Misa misa, Sasuke, Axel and Roxas cosplayers running around, an "accurate" cosplay sometimes just aren't enough to stand out at a convention anymore.

So, how do you create a cosplay outfit that transcends all others? That makes fellow congoingers stop and stare in awe, crowd around you to complement your creative cosplay costume or ask to take photos of you and then glomp you so hard your ribs break and you die? . . . okay, maybe not that last one . . .

But my point is that if you want to stand out at a cosplay convention, maybe even win one (or all) of the costume awards, then you must have a costume that turns heads. How do you do this? First, find a Cosplay Idol. This is someone you will be looking up to, to better yourself. Ask yourself "What makes them so good?" It is their accessories? Or their eye for detail? Their choice of fabrics, or the way their poses and personality shine through in photos? Pay close attention to the costume you are trying to recreate, use your imagination and add a little of your own personality to your cosplay.

Popular Cosplay Idols include internet celebrity Adella, and professional Japanese cosplayer Arisa Mizuhara. But there are many, many talented cosplayers out there. Check out the website in the Resource Box for even more Cosplay Idols!

Inu-Yasha

From Virtual Japan

Jump to: navigation, search

Inu-Yasha (Sengoku Otogi Zōshi InuYasha) is an extremely popular manga and anime series created by one of Japan’s most known manga writers: Rumiko Takahashi. Takahashi has become one of the wealthiest women in Japan, due to her talent in writing mangas that tend to be enjoyed by both men and women; something that a lot of manga writers are never able to accomplish. Fans of Takahashi know all of her shows by heart, but Inu-Yasha is one of the most well-known and love animes in both Japan and America.

Synopsis

Inu-Yasha is a fairly complex story that involves time-traveling, magic, and romance. The basic plot of the story is that of a girl who gets pulled back in time and breaks a spell that has been holding Inu-Yasha captive in a tree for over fifty years. The two then head on an adventure to bring together the broken pieces of a mystical piece of jewelry known as the Jewel of Four Souls.

Characters

  • Inu-Yasha – Inu-Yasha literally translates to dog demon. While Inu-Yasha is not exactly a demon, he is a half-demon. In the beginning of the series, Inu-Yasha was trying to steal the Jewel of Four Souls when he was sealed into a tree by a hero named Kikyo. Kikyo is wounded, and has her sister burn the jewel with her after her death so that it does not get taken by the wrong people. Inu-Yasha begins as a sort of “bad guy”, after he is released from the tree, but winds up becoming a hero of sorts.
  • Kagome Higurashi – Kagome is a 15 year old student who is the reincarnation of Kikyo, some 500 years after she died. She gets pulled back in time, to fifty years after Kikyo died. It is Kagome that releases Inu-Yasha from the tree. She places a necklace known as the Beads of Subjugation on Inu-Yasha to keep him under control. Whenever she yells, “Sit boy”, the beads become extremely heavy and force Inu-Yasha to the ground.
  • Miroku – This Buddhist monk travels with Inu-Yasha and Kagome in an effort to destroy Naraku, one of the evil villains of the anime. Miroku is a womanizer who is constantly asking women to bear his child. His family was cursed by Naraku, so that his right hand, unless it is covered by a cloth and a strand of magical beads, becomes a wind tunnel.
  • Sango – As the only member of the group that does not have any magical abilities, Sango is still able to prove herself a valuable ally. She uses a large boomerang and other tools to aid the group and in order to rescue her brother, Kahaku, from Naraku’s control.

Like almost all of Rumiko Takahashi’s work, Inu-Yasha is filled with humor and with love, as eventually Inu-Yasha and Kagome come to care for each other. Although they come to love each other, neither of the pair admits it, but both are easily brought to jealousy and concern over the other. They are often seen holding hands and touching, which shows how much the duo really do care about each other.

Aki Maeda

From Virtual Japan

Jump to: navigation, search

At only five feet tall, the petite and young Japanese actress Aki Maeda, born on July 11, 1985 in Tokyo, Japan, has already made quite a name for herself in Japanese cinema, particularly for her portrayal of Noriko Nakagawa in the violent and controversial film Battle Royale in 2000, and its sequel, Battle Royale II: Requiem, in 2003.

Aki Maeda is also well-known as the younger sister (by almost two years) of famous Japanese actress and model Ai Maeda, who is noted for her McDonald’s commercials as a young child, for her performance as Shiori Kitano in Battle Royale II: Requiem and for voicing Kino in the amine series Kino’s Journey.

Aki Maeda got her start in acting in Gakkô no kaidan 3 (School Ghost Story 3) in 1997 as Mayuko Fujii, when she was only 12, and shortly thereafter appeared in the Gakkô no kaidan video series and T.V. version. In 1999, she appeared as young Ayana in Gamera 3: Iris kakusei.

However, her most famous role—as Noriko Nakagawa—came the following year in 2000’s Battle Royale (Japanese name: Batoru rowaiaru). The premise of the film was considered by viewers and critics as highly controversial, featuring a group of ninth-grade Japanese students captured by the government, forced to live on a small island and kill each other. Aki Maeda reprised the role three years later in the sequel, Battle Royale II: Requiem (Batoru rowaiaru II: Chinkonka).

Also, it should be noted that Aka Maeda was originally slated to voice the character Anzu Mazaki in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, but the part went instead to Maki Saito, who did the voice work for Anzu in all Yu-Gi-Oh! episodes.

The young actress has also embarked on a side career in music as a singer and a drummer, and was involved in the release of a number of albums and singles. Albums include Winter Tales, Boys be (original soundtrack, 2000), and in 2005, we are PARAN MAUM and Linda Linda Linda (original soundtrack), the latter two of which she was Paran Maum’s drummer. Aki Maeda’s most popular singles include “Gomen ne” (1999), “Genki no SHOWER” (2000), and “Daijobu” (2000).
